In a shocking incident, a #Dalit man in #Gujarat’s #Morbi town was made to apologise while keeping his former employer’s footwear in his mouth, just for demanding his salary. The 21-year-old #NileshDalsaniya, his brother Mehul and a neighbour Bhavesh Makwana reached the office of Raniba Industries Pvt Ltd (RIPL) at around 7 pm on Thursday. Upon reaching, Nilesh requested his salary for 16 days he worked in the company in October. However, the owner #VibhutiPatel’s brother Om, as well as five employees of the company, allegedly assaulted him. According to the FIR filed by the police, Nilesh was taken to the roof of the commercial building , beaten with belt and also punched and kicked. “Vibhuti Patel forced me to take her chappal in my mouth and made me apologise… She warned me that I shall be killed if I ventured on Ravapar Road or if I dared to file a complaint,” the FIR said. Sharing further details of the incident, Pratipalsinh Zala Deputy Superintendent of Police (SC/ST cell), Morbi, Nilesh went to a nearby government hospital in the city. Efforts are on to arrest the culprit, he added further. Vibhuti had apparently told him that she was out of town and would pay her salary upon returning. However, days after Nilesh had called again, Om picked the phone and told him that he won’t get his salary and must not call his sister at odd hours. Nilesh had earlier joined the company in October 2 at a monthly salary of Rs 12,000. However on October 18, he was asked to leave the company, after which he joined another company. The accused have been book under Section 3 of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989. This include punishments for offences against any individual from scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe.
